Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust have launched a new supporters survey to gather views about drinking in view of the pitch at men’s football games.
While drinking alcohol in view of the pitch is allowed at women’s football games in the WSL and WSL2, at rugby matches and at concerts, it is currently not allowed at Premier League, EFL or National League matches in England or Wales.
Speaking about this, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said this week, “I do believe there is a case to remove that discrimination. There are different ways it could be done. It could happen on a trial basis. I don’t see how it can be fair that some supporters of one sport can be treated differently.”
Prompted by this, Bristol City FC / Ashton Gate Ltd have said, “Supporters experience matchday in different ways – some with alcohol, some without. As a progressive club and venue, which hosts men’s and women’s football and rugby and other events such as concerts, we have experience of both approaches and welcome the discussion on this topic.”
